District Outstanding Youth Award

The Outstanding Youth Award Contest is an annual competition allowing participants to apply for the Texas Lions OYA Scholarship. Contestants are evaluated on high school grade point average, a 750-word essay, a personal biographical information statement, three letters of recommendation, performance of community service, leadership experience/participation and a personal interview. The scholarship award for the winner of this contest is $1,000. The runner-up will receive $500.

The “Change Maker”

Contestants must articulate ways in which they have been “Change Makers” in their community, school and inspired others to do the same.  Why is it important to be a Change Maker?  A Change Maker is defined as one who commits to self- responsibility and action toward change in their community.

Eligibility, Application Process and Rules

The Outstanding Youth Award is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Scholarship awards must be collected no later than two (2) years following the recipient’s graduation from High School, and the money goes directly to the school.
Students must complete the Common Contest application form. Students may download this from the links below, fill them out in Adobe Reader and submit them according to the rules for the contest. Any questions should be directed to the Contest Coordinator.

Your Speech is to be presented at the 3rd Team Meeting in Bay City Texas on January 27, 2018.

Deadline to have your report in is January 7, 2018.
