Quick note on PCC/PDG Pete Rygaard

PDG Mitch Thames being the leader and gentleman he is, said he understood, but he was my second choice for doing the induction of officers for 2020-2021.  Being a young Lion, one of the first District Governors I knew personally was PDG Pete Rygaard.  He was District Governor from 1988-1989. I joined Lions in March 1985.   He was at our District convention in Lake Jackson in April 1988 at the then Hilton where I was co-chair of the convention.  We threw him into the pool!  Lion Pete’s doctor told him at 90 he better not go to a gathering with the pandemic.  Yes – he was my first choice and he was excited.  But – with the change and late notice we could not change and set up for him even with Zoom.  Maybe things will change and we can all see him at the convention in April 2021 in Lake Jackson – again.  And Pete – there is no pool at the convention center!
