Long Time Rosenberg Lion, C.J. Overgoner, Dies

Rosenberg Lions Club has lost its third member in the last three months. Lion C.J. Overgoner passed away in Oak Bend Medical Center in Rosenberg on January 26, 2018. Funeral services will be held at First Methodist Church in Rosenberg on Saturday, February 3, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 2, at the Greenlawn Chapel State Room.
Lion C.J. had a 45-year career in banking and service organizations. He either was vice-president or president in banks in Alice, Texas City, Schulenburg, and Wallis. While in Alice, he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Alice Lions Club, and the Retail Credit Association. He also served as president of the Schulenburg Lions Club. In his retired years in Rosenberg, he served on many committees in the Rosenberg Lions Club.
Lion C.J. served a total of 65 years in Lionism and will be sorely missed. Recent long-time Rosenberg Lions who have died in the past three months include Lion Duane Baker (50-year Lion) and Lion James Baker (40-year Lion).
