It is with deep sadness that we have learned PDG Michael Smalley from District 2-S5 has passed away. Lion Michael had a Great Heart for Service, Outstanding Leadership, and a Great Friend to all the Lions of his club, District 2-S5, and MD 2 Texas. His dedication and passion to serve those in need was well recognized. He joined the LaGrange Noon Lions Club in November of 2006. He held several offices in his club including Club Secretary and Club President. He served as District Governor during the Lions Centennial Year of 2016-2017 serving as the Council of Governors Vice-Chair. As District Governor, his District net gain in Membership for the year was a plus 211 members. He received several International President’s Awards and was recognized with a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was also recognized by the Past District Governors of Texas Lions with a Life membership for the Highest Net Gain in Membership and the Highest Retention Rate in MD 2 during the 2016-2017 Lions Year. He has served many positions in his District as well as in MD2.
He will be dearly missed but his legacy in service and especially as a friend will always be remembered.
