Emergency Grant has been submitted to LCIF
Good Evening,
Last night the Governor and I submitted an application for an emergency grant to LCIF. We just received word that district 2-S4 has been approved and will be given $10,000 for immediate use to purchase water over the next couple of days to be distributed to our community members in need. We know that this will not solve the shortage of potable water, but we are hoping to assist other measures already in place by local agencies.
Clubs and individuals interested in participating in this task please contact me. We are looking for Lions/Clubs who will undertake the purchasing of water to be distributed in one of three ways:
1) In partnership with local warming centers
2) Delivering to seniors or others shut-in and cannot reach local water distribution centers
3) Can set-up a local water distribution center at their club location or business.
To participate and utilize the grant we will need concise notes on how the funds and an estimation of the amount you will need. In order for us to reimburse the club, District Treasurer Lion Larry Stewart will need original receipts from the purchases. Without the original receipts, he will not be able to reimburse.
We will also need a few individuals who can load/unload and drive water we purchase with the district trailers to areas for distribution.
We intend to utilize this $10,000 to reach the whole district but will need all of your assistance to make this happen.
We are planning on applying for two additional grants one with the Texas Lions Foundation and the other is the LCIF Reconstruction Grant. As we move forward and receive more information on these grants we will pass it on to you.
Please do not spend any funds with the intention of seeking reimbursement without the sign-off from the Governor, myself, and/or Lion Larry Stewart. Right now we are in the planning stages so that if/when we are awarded we will be ready to go.
