Cuero Lions Club mourns the loss of three members in July

The Cuero Lions Club has suffered the untimely loss of three long-time members in less than two weeks.

Lion Gene Grafe passed away on Wednesday, July 8.
He joined the Cuero Lions Club in February 1960, served as President in 1970-71, and served as Secretary/Treasurer 1973-1988.
Gene was very active in the club for many years, until health problems forced him to become a Member-at-Large a few years ago.

Lion Vic Hoffman passed away on Wednesday, July 15.
He joined the Cuero Lions Club in April 2000.  While Vic never wanted to be in a leadership role with the club, he was always available to help on any project.  He was a dedicated worker and every club needs members like Vic.  He rarely missed a meeting or event until a recent illness incapacitated him.

Lion Johnny Pokluda passed away on Sunday, July 19.
He joined the Cuero Lions Club in October 1977, and served as President in 1984-85.
Johnny was very active in the club over the years and never missed a major event; and until recently, very few Wednesday meetings.  At last year’s sporting clay fundraiser, he donated all the supplies for the meal.  Johnny was a very generous person, not just to the Lions Club, but to everyone he met.

All three men were giants in their own way, and they will all be dearly missed by Lions club and our community.
