Don’t miss your opportunity to sponsor the 32nd annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. MD2 Texas Lions urges all Lions Clubs to engage with the youth in their community to sponsor an entry for their District’s Peace Poster Contest. The Journey of Peace begins with you and your Club. Each of the 16 Districts in MD2 will send its winning Poster for MD2 Contest by Dec. 1, 2019
How the Contest works: Only a Lions Club can sponsor the student for the District Contest. The sponsoring Lions Club need to obtain a Peace Poster Contest Kit from LCI Club supplies by Oct.1, 2019.Only one entry per student and each entry must be the work of only one student. The contest is open to young people ages 11, 12 & 13 on November 15, 2019.Each District selects one winning poster which is entered for the MD2 contest. There is no entrance fee.
Art: Students use a variety of mediums, including charcoal, crayon, pencil and paint, to express the theme “Journey of Peace”. The artwork must be no smaller than 13”x20” and no larger than 20”x24”. Do not laminate, mat or frame the artwork. Three-dimensional entries NOT accepted. Nothing may be glued, stapled or attached to the artwork. Judging: Each poster is judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme. Posters advance through several judging levels: local, district, multiple-district and international. Only one poster is selected at the District-level as its entry for Multiple District (MD2 Texas) contest. MD-2 then chooses one poster to send to International HQ for the final judging at the international-level contest. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, education, youth, and media communities select one Grand Prize Winner and 23 Merit Award Winners. More than 600,000 children participate annually world over.
Award Prize/Recognition to the winning artist at the local Lions Club-level and/or the District-level is given at their wishes.
$ 500 cash for Texas MD-2 level winner-1st Place
$5000 by LCI for one international grand prize winner and a trip (with 2 family members and the Lions club member) to the award ceremony.
$ 500 cash and Certificate of Achievement from LCI to 23 International Merit Award winner
Ordering Contest Kit: Lions Clubs sponsoring the contest must order a Peace Poster Contest Kit (PPK-1) from the Club Supplies Sales Dept. at clubsupplies@lionsclubs.org or call 630-571-5466 to order a kit by phone. Separate kit must be ordered for each poster submitted by a Club. Each kit (costs $11.95 plus shipping/handling) contains all the materials to sponsor the contest in a school or youth group, including complete rules, promotional material, recognition certificates for participants and the sticker to place on the back of the poster to be submitted by the Club to the District Governor. Please give sufficient delivery time for a well-planned contest.
